I was astounded to learn that the University of Michigan has been āterrorisedā by a turkey (The week in higher education, 6 August). One wonders why the faculty didnāt come out performing the āturkey trotā, a provocative dance that, according to Andrew F. Smith in The Turkey: An American Story (2006), āoriginated in Montana in the 1900sā and became the āinā dance. The turkey would then have imprinted itself behind the faculty and followed them wherever they wished to go.
