Brussels, 30 Sep 2004

The European Commission has issued a call for tenders related to the production of a European textbook on ethics in research.

The contract will support the production of a basic European textbook to train researchers to address questions that are of current relevance for ethics in research.

In particular, the following points should be addressed:
- development of a European concept for basic training of ethics in research;
- identification and compilation of relevant case studies that involve ethics issues of major significance to research involving human subjects;
- identification of the relevant ethical and philosophical principles involved in the case studies identified;
- proposed structure for educational training models in the ethics of scientific research.

The total foreseen budget for the call is 80,000 euro.
