Ken Smith (Letters, 15 February) deduces from Matthew Reiszâs statement that Kori Schake âwas born in Sonoma, California, ânot far from where gold was discovered in 1848ââ, that Schake âwill turn 170 this yearâ. However, Reiszâs word order does not support this humorous claim. The order âin 1848 not far from where gold was discoveredâ would favour Smithâs droll deduction.
