Palompon Institute of Technology was originally established as the Palompon School of Arts and Trades in 1961 to provide vocational and technical education in northwestern Leyte, Philippines. The institution was subsequently converted into the Palompon Institute of Technology, expanding to include higher technological, engineering, and professional education.
The institute is situated on the western coast of Leyte overlooking the Camotes Sea and serves students from Palompon and neighbouring municipalities across northwestern Leyte.
The College of Maritime Education offers specialised programmes in marine transportation, marine engineering, nautical science, and shipping management. A variety of courses are also offered through the College of Technology and Engineering, College of Teacher Education, and College of Arts and Sciences. Other programme offerings include electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, information technology, industrial technology, business administration, hospitality management, communication, and teacher education, alongside a range of master's and doctoral programmes.
